Second Saturday Flea: We’re so excited to check out the Flea Market at The Shirt Factory this Saturday from 9am-4pm. Antiques, vintage, collectibles, and more - right up our alley! Check out the details here, and if you can’t make it this Saturday, mark your calendar for the next Second Saturday Flea Market dates - July 8 and August 12!

Warren Street Walking Tour: Thrilled to see that The Chapman Museum is offering a series of walking tours on Fridays this summer! The Warren Street tour on Friday at 11am will span from St. Mary’s Church to the Hyde Collection with a look at the important figures who lived here and their contributions to the success of the city and region. Feeder Canal Alliance Community Day: Join the Feeder Canal Alliance for a free community fun event on Saturday from 11am-2pm at Haviland Cove Park. Bring the kiddos for activities including rock painting and “building” a canal boat, and while you’re there find out more about the plans to plans to improve areas of the Towpath Trail and the Canal. Lessons on Longevity: Our friends at Glens Falls Hospital’s Center for Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease are presenting a free community forum at The Queensbury Hotel on Sunday from 1-3pm on things we can do now to maintain a healthy mind into our golden years. Sunday Farmer’s Market: Head to West Mountain on Sundays this summer (through September 3) for their First Annual Summer Farmer's Market from 9am-12pm! Looks like they’ll also have their summer activities up and running, including scenic chairlift rides, mountaintop picnic packages, and more - get the details here!

And as always you can shop the Glens Falls Farmer’s Market downtown on Saturdays from 8am-12pm.

Dragons Baseball: Head to East Field this weekend to catch the first couple of games of the season for the Glens Falls Dragons! Their home opener is Friday night at 7pm, and you can also catch them on Sunday at 7pm - find out more here!

Pups and Pints: What could be better? Head to Common Roots this Sunday from 12-2pm to meet some sweet adoptable pups from Lucky Puppy Rescue and enjoy a craft beer or two - get the details here.

Glens Falls Pride Festival: Pop down to City Park on Sunday, June 4th, from 12-4pm for the Pride Festival, hosted by Lower Adirondack Pride, whose mission it is to support the LGBTQ+ community of Glens Falls and the Lower Adirondack Region. They’ll have music, vendors, and lots more! Details here.

The Weekender: May 26 - 28

Memorial Day Weekend! We’re looking forward to a long weekend of relaxing with friends and family and hope you are too! Here are a few things that caught our eye:

 
 
 

Memorial Day Parades: We’re so grateful to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and it’s always wonderful to see all of the events in their honor. Of course, no Memorial Day would be complete without taking in the annual Glens Falls Memorial Day parade, which begins downtown and makes it’s way down Glen Street at 10am on Monday (grab those details here). And if you’re really in a parade state of mind this weekend, head just over the bridge for the South Glens Falls Parade on Friday night at 6pm, starting at Main and Haviland and running north to Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Comedy After Dark: Grab dinner downtown and head over to The Park Theater for Comedy After Dark on Friday at 8pm. As seen on NBC, FX and more, Jim Tews has two live albums that have debuted in the top three comedy titles on the iTunes charts. Grab tickets for his show at The Park here.

Memorial Day Market + Party: Have you been to Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery in Queensbury? This weekend marks their 8th anniversary and they’re celebrating with a party - summer cocktails, live music, delicious bbq and local artisan vendors. Sounds right up our alley! Grab the scoop here.

The Outcrops at Dancing Grain: There’s a full weekend of brews and views on tap at Dancing Grain Farm Brewery in Moreau, and on Saturday night they’ve got blues, soul, and rock and roll band, The Outcrops, performing at 5:30pm, along with burgers from Burger 21 - details here!

Wine + Spirits to Benefit Youth Football: Have you popped into the new Queensbury Wine & Spirits yet? If you’re stocking up for your Memorial Day cookout, pop in to shop this Friday when a portion of sales goes directly to the young athletes of Queensbury Youth Football. Details here!

 
 

Dahlia Workshop on The Farm: Calling all dahlia lovers - The Farm Store at Tiashoke is hosting a dahlia workshop on Saturday at 10am! Pet Fest: Calling all pet lovers! This Saturday from 9am-2pm, bring your pups to City Park for interactive training demonstrations, a talent show, a puppy parade, vendors, and more - details here!

Community Scavenger Hunt: Join the Tri-County United Way in celebrating their 100th Birthday on Saturday with a virtual scavenger hunt (details here!) and a celebration in City Park from 4-6pm with food trucks, a beer garden at The Q, activities for the kiddos and more - details on that here!

Opening Day at the Outdoor Farmers’ Market: It’s a sure sign of spring when you can start your weekend downtown perusing the outdoor Farmers’ Market! Can’t wait to see what’s fresh and new on Saturday from 8am-noon on South Street - details here!

Fishing Derby at Crandall Pond: The City of Glens Falls and the Glens Falls Rotary Club are hosting a Fishing Derby for kiddos age 3-15 this Saturday morning! Registration begins at 8:30am and prizes will be awarded at 11:30am. Grab the info here!

 
 

Washington County Antique Fair: We brake for barn sales and antique shops, always, so it’s no surprise that the Washington County Antique Fair is high on our list this weekend. We’re looking forward to strolling the Fairgrounds (giant bag of kettle corn in hand, of course), and seeing what kinds of treasures await. More info here!

The Farm Store Grand Re-Opening (and Antique Fest!): Did you catch our First Look at The Farm Store at Tiashoke back in the fall (here’s the link for a refresher!)? Like a scene out of Country Living Magazine, it’s the quintessential Washington County shopping experience. After closing for the winter and completing more renovations, they're re-opening this weekend with a bonus — antiques have been added to the entire basement! This weekend they’ll have a food truck and cider donuts, too. Find out more here!

Wing Fest: We’re excited to see the downtown event season kick off with Wing Fest! Loads of wings from your favorite local restaurants paired with live music downtown - sign us up! Tastings start at noon on Saturday (please hold off, rain!). Get the scoop here!

Comedy After Dark: Date night! Grab dinner downtown and then head over to The Park Theater for Comedy After Dark on Friday at 8pm. As seen and heard on This American Life and The Adam Carolla Show, Dave Hill performs live comedy over the world and will now add Glens Falls to that list! Grab tickets here.

 
 

Washington County Fiber Tour: A spring favorite! The prettiest drive from farm to farm in Washington County, you’ll meet alpacas, bunnies, goats, sheep and lambs, llamas, and more, and shop for unique woven and knitted items while you’re at it. Grab the details here!

Owl Pen Books: Ever been to Owl Pen Books in Greenwich? Down a winding dirt road, you’ll find a complex of red barns tucked behind a historic white home. The barns are the bookstore. It doesn’t get more charming! They close each winter and this weekend is their spring reopening! Check them out here (and stay tuned because I think it’s time we did a full feature on them!).

Daffodil and Tulip Festival at Naumkeag: If you’re up for a road trip, the Daffodil and Tulip Fest at Naumkeag in Stockbridge, MA stopped our scroll - it looks beautiful! About 90 minutes from Glens Falls, tour a 19th century estate and garden, complete with 130,000 daffodil and tulip bulbs. They have limited tickets available this weekend, but looks like the festival continues throughout the next two weeks - reserve your tickets here!

Earth Day: Lots happening around town for Earth Day this Saturday! The City of Glens Falls, Crandall Library, and Sustainable PR are hosting an Earth Day Celebration in City Park on Saturday from 10am-2pm including sustainability-related activities and notable climate-speakers. Crandall Library will be hosting an electronics recycling event (here are the details on that), as well as celebrating the grand opening of their Seed Library (more on that below)!

Crandall Library Seed Library: Love this idea! This Saturday is the grand opening of the Seed Library, which will be a community-based initiative of saving and sharing seeds. This Saturday, the Seed Library at Crandall Library will be open from 10am-2pm, with Warren County Master Gardeners on hand to provide seed starting and saving instructions. Moving forward, the Seed Library will be open Saturdays from 10am-12pm, Tuesdays from 6-8pm, and Thursdays from 5-7pm. Find out more here!

Playoff Hockey: Cheer on the Thunder as they head into the playoffs this weekend! They’re home on Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 5pm - grab your tickets here!

Rotary 5K: Have you signed up yet? The Glens Falls Rotary Community Wellness 5K Run/Walk is this Saturday at 9:30am at SUNY Adirondack and benefits the Adirondack Vets House, Tri-County Literacy, and the Wood Theater. Lace up your sneaks and register here!

Maple in April: Spring is sweet! The Shirt Factory is celebrating maple season this Saturday from 11am-5pm with a round up of food vendors and local crafters incorporating maple into specialty dishes and products. Grab the details here!

Easter Egg Hunt: The Kemp Animal Sanctuary at Nettle Meadow Farm in Thurman is hosting their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday from 12-2pm. Kiddos can hunt for colorful eggs filled with treats to feed the animals on the farm (and looks like they’ll have treats for the kids, too!). Happy weekend, Happy April! We’re starting the month with a busy weekend! Lots happening, so let’s get to it:

 
 
 

Glens Falls Brewfest: Unlimited tastings from over 30 breweries, complimentary food tastings from 11 different restaurants, and live music by Dirt Cheap! It’s all happening on Saturday, April 1 from 4-7pm on the Arena Floor at Cool Insuring Arena. And bonus - all proceeds benefit Adirondack Theatre Festival and Feeder Canal Alliance, two not-for-profits doing great things in our community. Grab tickets here! Note that online ticket sales available until 1pm on Saturday, but tickets will still be available at the door.

Taps and Apps: Get a head start on Brewfest at Seasoned on Friday from 6-8pm! Sample amazing food by chef Matthew Bolton and the SUNY Culinary Arts School paired with awesome brews from Brewfest’s guest brewer, Battle Hill Brewing Co. There are limited tickets available for this event and as of this writing, there were still a handful left! Get tickets here!

Comedy After Dark: Date night! Grab dinner downtown and then head over to The Park Theater for Comedy After Dark on Friday at 8pm. As seen on Comedy Central and Saturday Night Live, Adam Mamawala also has two albums that debuted at #1 on the iTunes Comedy Charts. Sounds like fun to us! Grab tickets here.

Northwest Fest: It’s springtime on the slopes at West Mountain! They’re celebrating this Saturday and Sunday with live music and outdoor grilling at the Northwest Base. All trails and lifts will be open, and discounted $40 4-hr lift tickets available. Get the scoop here!

Drop the Gloves with ALS: You may remember Emily Noble from a My Glens Falls feature a few years back (and you probably also know her as the Muffin Top Baker!). Her husband, Marcus, was diagnosed with ALS in early 2021 at the age of 33. They’ve organized the first annual Drop the Gloves hockey tournament, which will raise funds for the St. Peter’s ALS Regional Center through team registration, raffles and silent auctions, and a GoFundMe page for those not able to attend the event but still wish to make a difference (click here to donate). Games will take place this weekend at the Glens Falls Recreation Center Ice Rink and you can expect live music, food trucks, and beer, of course! Get the details and schedule here!

From Emily: “Living with ALS is overwhelming and expensive as Marcus and I have found. We were fortunate enough to be connected to the St. Peter’s ALS Regional Center in Albany for help navigating this disease. The clinic helps us understand what to expect and how to be as prepared as possible. The St Peter’s Clinic has impacted the lives of so many people and after experiencing it first hand, we’d like to help give back to them.”

Pizza Night: Did you catch our roundup of the top pizza in Glens Falls? We’ve tried most of them, but we’re excited to order from a new-to-us spot this weekend - check it out here if you’re in the mood for a slice!

Farmer’s Market: Have you been to the Farmers Market lately? It’s easy to forget in the cooler weather, but most all of your favorite vendors from the summer market are set up for the winter at the Aviation Mall on Saturdays from 9am-noon through the end of April! Details here.

Thunder Hockey: Cheer on the home team this Friday and Saturday night at 7pm, which also happens to be Stick it to Cancer Weekend, benefitting the C. R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital. With a $10 donation to the Hospital, fans can write a personal message or the name of a loved one affected by cancer on the ice after the game on Friday, and on Saturday, the game will be played on the painted ice. Bands and Beans: If you love live music and chili, you’re in luck. The Lake George Arts Project hosts Bands and Beans this Sunday at the Fort William Henry from 2-7pm. Eight bands, chili from 20+ regional restaurants, raffle prizes, and more - grab the details here!

Ice Cream: The surest sign of spring - the re-opening of our favorite ice cream spots! Rob and Deb’s opens tomorrow (Friday) and Martha’s opens on Saturday - see you in line!

Winter Meltdown: The Shirt Factory is heating things up this weekend with the Spicy Food Winter Meltdown! Food vendors will be serving up dishes full of spice and flavor (and plenty of other non-spicy options, too!) on Saturday from 11am-5pm - details here!

Snowshoe at Wilton Wildlife Preserve: Might as well enjoy the last of the snow! No snowshoes? No problem! On winter weekends, Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park rents snowshoes and cross country skis at their Winter Lodge on Saturday and Sunday from 11am-3pm. Find the details here and get out on the trail!

Thurman Maple Days: Head north to Thurman this weekend for the second of three Maple Days this month. Hop on a hayride at Toad Hill Maple Farm, enjoy a s’more by the fire at Mud Street Maple, or head out on a farm walk at Nettle Meadow. And obviously, sample all of the maple goodness along the way. South High Marathon Dance: It’s South High’s Marathon Dance weekend! This year, 630 students will dance for 28 hours to benefit 12 individual and 10 not-for-profit recipients in the community. The public events and fundraisers have moved to Tanglewood Elementary this year, so check out their website for all of the new details. As always, you can donate to the Marathon Dance online here. Section 2 Boys Basketball: It’s that time of year! The Section 2 Boys Basketball Tournament runs through the weekend at the Cool Insuring Arena, and it just so happens that Glens Falls plays in the Class B Championship on Saturday at 12:45pm - let’s go Glens Falls! Details here.

Downtown Art: Not one, but two show openings downtown this weekend! LARAC’s Lapham Gallery kicks things off on Friday at 5pm with the opening of “Be Still”, featuring artists Anne Ackerson and Robin Brewer. Follow that up with a visit to Mountain Gallery at 6pm for the opening of “Plein Air Adirondack” featuring works from (you guessed it!) members of Plein Air Adirondack. Details here!

Comedy After Dark: Date night! Grab dinner downtown (Park & Elm, perhaps?!) and head over to The Park Theater for Comedy After Dark on Friday at 8pm. Park Patio Music Series at The Q: Summer might be “over” (unofficially!), but The Park Patio Music Series at The Q continues this fall! Mark your calendar for dinner, drinks and live music overlooking City Park every Wednesday from 4-8pm through October 5th. Click here for details!

 

The Cheese (+ Wine + Beer) Tour: Have you ever gone on the Cheese Tour? It’s a self-guided tour through the gorgeous back roads of Washington County - with an opportunity to visit (and sample!) at cheesemaking farms, a brewery, and a winery, and more. The Weekender: September 2 - 4

Happy Labor Day weekend! There’s a hint of fall in the air, but we’re looking forward to soaking up another good old fashioned summer weekend. Here’s what looks good…

 
 

Sunflower Fest: Have you been to Dancing Grain yet? We shared a first look at the farm brewery here, and this weekend they’ll be showing off their sunflower field in addition to their craft brews! Admission is $5 and stems are $2 each - get the details here.

Bluegrass at The Park: The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys perform tomorrow (Friday) night at The Park Theater! If bluegrass is your thing, this Grammy nominated group formed in the Smoky Mountains is sure to please! Rumor has it they also have a 1965 GM Tour bus, which we think is pretty cool too. Details here!

 

Apple Picking: We know, we know. Seems early, right?! Lots of orchards are open or opening this weekend for u-pick - check out a list of our favorites here. Guess you’ll get a head start on that apple pie!

 
 
 

Corn Maze: Fort Ticonderoga’s Corn Maze is open (which is always a reminder that summer is winding down). They’ve got a larger, more challenging maze for adults as well as one for kiddos, and you’ll love the rest of what the Fort has to offer too (check out a recap of our visit here). Happy weekend! The last of August! We’re seeing subtle signs of color in the trees, but as much as we love fall, we’re holding on tight to these summer weekends. Here are a few ideas to help you soak of one of the last of the season!

 
 
 
 

Breakfast in the Park: Two local favorites, Jenny Jo’s Smoothies and Simpatico, are teaming up for Breakfast in the Park on Friday morning from 7:30-11:30am! Grab your favorite sweet treats from Simpatico to enjoy while you sip your smoothie from Jenny Jo’s in City Park downtown. Dancing Grain Farm Brewery: We are so excited to check out Dancing Grain, a new farm brewery in Moreau! They open tomorrow (Friday), and if craft beer, barns, Adirondack chairs, and serene farm views are your thing, then this is your place! Details here.

 

Farm to Table Dinner: This Saturday night, our friends at Lakota’s Farm in Cambridge are hosting a family friendly farm to table dinner and bonus, along with lawn games, music, a bonfire, and a movie! Did we mention a beautiful view of the farm, too? Details and tickets here.

Second Chance Barn: If you love a good vintage find like we do, you’ll be glad to know that Second Chance Barn in Granville has re-opened this summer! They usually post photos of the barn on their Facebook page on Fridays so you can see what’s up for grabs. If you’re headed out that way, check out some of our other Granville favorites here. It just so happens that Hicks is on the way, so you might as well grab a cider donut or two while you’re out that way, right?!
