Can’t believe it’s already the last outdoor market of the year! We’ve got pumpkins and winter squash on our list for Saturday morning - which by the way, they’ve dubbed “The Great Pumpkin Festival” - so we can’t wait to see what other pumpkin goods they have in store. The Market continues indoors at Sanford Street starting next weekend (November 2) thru April!

There are two fundraising walks for great causes stepping off in Glens Falls and Queensbury this weekend - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s (which John talked about in this week’s My Glens Falls). Hockey is back! The Thunder play their first home game of the season this Saturday at 7pm, and we are psyched for a great season ahead. After our experience on the Open Studios Tour in Washington County this summer (read about that here!), we were pretty taken with the talented artists we visited, their gorgeous work, and the beautiful farmland we traveled through. Landscapes for Landsake combines these into an amazing art exhibition featuring over 40 local artists that benefits the Agricultural Stewardship Association (whose mission is to conserve and protect the region’s farmland). A favorite fall event downtown, this year will feature samples from 30 local restaurants, live music, and a beer garden at the Queensbury Hotel. As a kid, I have fond memories of my grandpa sitting in his chair, mapping out which foods he wanted to sample from each restaurant - and now as an adult, I totally get it! We’ll be bringing our appetite, for sure. Grab the info here!

The sight of 100+ hot air balloons in the sky in the morning still makes me as giddy as an adult as it did when I was a kid, and we’re guessing you all probably feel the same way. What’s an early morning wake up call on a weekend without a good brunch? After some obligatory balloon “chasing”, we’ll inevitably wind up out for breakfast. Where to this year? Have you ever gone on the Cheese Tour? We went last year for the first time and it was the perfect combination of beautiful views and farms, and delicious cheese (and wine and beer, too!). If you’ve never been, it’s a self-guided tour through the gorgeous back roads of Washington County - with an opportunity to visit (and sample!) at cheesemaking farms, a brewery, and a winery. Looks like a perfect weekend for it, too! Here are the details.

We’ve loved seeing some more specialty events popping up from Lake George Steamboat Company over the last few years (like Rock the Dock), and this series looks like fun - Minne Rock the Dock! We are so excited to head out on the Open Studios Tour this weekend! One of our favorite local antique shops, Antiques Market Place, is having a tent sale this weekend, and we’re hoping to make our way up for a look around before it gets too hot (though it looks like there are sales throughout the store, too!). Artisan Trail

Not to be confused with the Washington County Open Studios Tour (which we shared a sneak peak of earlier this week and is scheduled for next weekend), Artisan Trails in Washington County has a self guided studio tour throughout the county this weekend. There are 13 artisans on the map to visit - from potters to quilters to photographers - and Bri already has her eye on some landscape paintings. Grab the details and the map here.

Featured on the Artisan Trail but not to be missed, Lavenlair Farm is a gem in Washington County and one of our favorite spots for a summer weekend drive. Fields of gorgeous French and English lavender set behind an old stone house and a red barn, you’ll feel like you’re a world away. Their u-pick season runs through the end of July so get there soon! It’s been a minute since we’ve enjoyed a cold margarita and some chips and guac, so we’re thinking Raul’s is in the cards this weekend. Their patio overlooking Glen Street doesn’t hurt on an 80 degree summer night either! Here are their details if you’re in the mood for some Mexican fare too!

It’s blueberry season! We just saw the announcement go up that Winney’s Blueberry Farm in Schuylerville is opening for the season tomorrow (Friday)! We’ve also had great luck picking at Hick’s Orchard (doesn’t look like theirs are ready, but they just opened for cherry picking!)…anywhere else we should try? Can’t wait to make the first fresh blueberry pie of the season.

There’s nothing more “Hometown USA” than a movie under the stars in City Park. Art in the Public Eye presents family friendly movies all summer long on Friday nights, and while we don’t have kids, you may see us watching from afar as we enjoy a drink on the porch at Morgan and Co or the patio at Park 26. The summer is in full swing and we can’t believe the second show of ATF is about to begin! The Enlightenment of Percival Von Schmootz opens tomorrow (Friday) and it sounds like a fun musical comedy about a young man finding hope and humor in some not-so-great circumstances. After starting to dig into the history of our own home, we’re super interested in hearing the stories of other houses and buildings in the city. Bri has declared this the summer of pies and is baking one pie per week all summer. A lofty goal, but I don’t hear Tom complaining about being the official taste tester. We love the Adirondack Balloon Fest in the fall of course, and it’s been fun to see smaller balloon events pop up throughout the year as well.
